Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA)
PIAA is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation organized on a membership basis. All of PIAA's members are schools. They include almost all of the public and many of the private junior high/middle schools and senior high schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Generally stated, the purpose and function of PIAA is to develop and enforce rules, (which are authorized or adopted by the member schools), and to regulate interscholastic athletic competition.

School – General Guidelines
Safety is always paramount to PMSD and St. Luke’s, so please review the general guidelines below to help everyone promote increased safety by decreasing the risks associated with athletic participation:
1) Please make sure you have completed all sections of Family ID/Arbiter Sports, and that the physical is signed after May 1st by the health care provider and handed in to the athletic department. We need to know if your child has any medical conditions such as allergies, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, etc. Any athlete participating with a pre-existing medical condition must inform the AT and coach so emergency action plans can be discussed and implemented.
2) ALL students must have a valid ImPACT baseline test completed. These tests can be done at-home or school. Please email Evelyn Payne at epayne@pmsd.org to receive your link to the test and instructions if you will be completing it at home. Having a valid baseline assessment on file helps the medical team in the clinical management of your son/daughter should they suffer a concussion.
3) If a student is being evaluated and/or treated by an outside physician or specialist, a note clearing the student for activity is required before the student will be allowed to participate. There are NO exceptions to this policy.
4) If any athlete requires the use of an inhaler, Epi-pen, insulin kit or other special medications as prescribed by a health care professional, it is mandatory they bring it to each practice and game and have it easily accessible on the sidelines.

Hall of Fame
Pocono Mountain West Athletic Hall of Fame
Nomination Information
Outstanding athletes, coaches and special, involved individuals are an inspiration and a source of pride to youngsters, students and adults throughout the school district and community.
In 2024, the Pocono Mountain West All-Sports Booster Club initiated the Pocono Mountain Panther Athletic Hall of Fame to recognize those truly outstanding individuals who are deserving of being selected in the Pocono Mountain West Athletic Hall of Fame based upon their achievements in athletics, coaching or support of PM Panther athletics.
Selections to the Pocono Mountain Panther Athletic Hall of Fame depend upon accurate and complete information provided by friends, family members or even the nominee themselves. Newspaper files, family scrapbooks and written personal anecdotes should be supplied so that the committee members, who may not personally recall the nominee, can make appropriate selections. Please refer to the Hall of Fame eligibility criteria below for a student athlete, coach or other individual from Pocono Mountain West High School.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Your nomination is subject to review and is not necessarily a guarantee that the nominee will be put into the pool of nominees for consideration for the Hall of Fame.
- Your nominee must be willing to accept the Hall of Fame nomination, and, if voted in, be willing to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and make every effort to attend and participate in the Hall of Fame events/ceremony.
- You and the nominee will be notified once the nomination paperwork is deemed acceptable and complete.
- Once the nominee is accepted and approved to be in the pool of nominees, there is no time frame for when, or if, he or she will be selected into the actual Hall of Fame.
- The nominee will remain in the pool of nominees indefinitely for consideration to be selected into the Hall of Fame until they are voted into the Hall of Fame or the Pocono Mountain School District determines they be removed.
- All nominations for the current year are due by October 31st.
- Voting by the Hall of Fame committee for the current year’s Hall of Fame inductees takes place in late fall.
- The Hall of Fame committee will only contact the “voted in” nominees (current year’s inductees). This would take place in approximately the beginning of November.
- The current year’s Hall of Fame event will take place during the winter season
- Timeline subject to change depending upon inductees/team nominations.
